Laura’s Tastings

Want to learn more about wine? You’ve come to the right place…

A personal tasting session with me is a great way to learn and be entertained at the same time, whether it’s for your clients, a fundraiser or just a get together with friends.

All my tastings are bespoke, and depending on what you would like, each are quoted for separately. I’m happy to host a tasting in the comfort of your own home, in your office or at another mutually convenient location – just get in touch and we can talk you through it properly.

My number is: 07900 223678

Alternatively, sign up for our tastings below by emailing me which ones you would like to come to. They are held in a fabulous room at Cafe des Amis in Covent Garden. Tastings begin at 7 for 7.30pm.

We don’t provide food at our tastings – just some palate clensing biscuits, so Cafe des Amis are kindly offering all Red White or Pink 50% off their A la Carte menu. Just let me know if you would like to book a table.

  • Which grape is it anyway?
    Tuesday 23rd March

This tasting is a brilliant and fun introduction to wine. To begin, we will go over how to taste wine. We will then look at 8 major grape varieties grown all over the world: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling and Viognier for the white grapes; Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Syrah/Shiraz for the red grapes. After a brief insight into these different grape varieties, your job will be to taste 8 wines ‘blind’ and to match the correct grape to the wine! Sound easy, exciting, challenging? Then give it a go…

There is a prize for the person with the most correct answers.

  • The World Cup of Wines
    Tuesday 25th May

With all the hype of the FIFA World Cup, we have decided to host our own RWP Wine World Cup. Come and play some wine football and help decide which country is to hold the World Cup of Wine.

    So how does it work?
Wines of a similar price (sub £10) from 12 different countries will be placed into 2 groups. You will vote for your favourite and the top 2 countries of each group will go forward to the semi-finals.

In the semi finals the wines will go up to be sub £20 per bottle / per country.
Wine A of group 1 will play wine B of group 2, and wine B of group 1 will play wine A of group 2. Again you choose your favourite and the 2 winning countries will go forward to the final.

In the final, the wines will be £20+ per bottle / per country and there will be a taste off between the finalists.

This is a walk-around tasting and all wines will be tasted blind.

  • Wimbledon Tasting – wines for summer
    Wednesday 16th June

When Wimbledon appears on our screens, we know summer has officially started. This tasting is a guide to what to drink over the warmer months (few days!) of the year. Instead of wines to go with roasts and casseroles, what goes well with salads, fresh fish and barbeques?

We will taste a selection of sparkling wines, white, rosé and reds according to players or places we associate with Wimbledon!

In the following order, we will taste:

    • Andy Murray
    • Henman Hill
    • Maria Sharapova
    • Centre Court
    • John McEnroe
    • Debentures
    • Rodger Federer
    • Serena Williams

Come along and find what wines we have matched these Wimbledon icons to. Who or what is matched to a juicy, succulent red??

During this tasting we will also look into the aromatic white grape varieties, lighter red grape varieties and how rosé is made.
